Ida Karstoft
2x Olympian & Denmark's fastest woman ever.
Ida Karstoft has always been fast – and her path to the track is just as impressive as her speed. In her youth, she played football at a high level, representing Denmark in 37 youth national team matches and 2 senior internationals. It wasn’t until later that she swapped her football boots for running shoes.
Her big breakthrough came in 2022 with a European Championship bronze medal in the 200 meters – while also setting Danish records in the 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, and the 4×100 meter relay.
Driven by determination and a strong belief in herself, Ida Karstoft is now working hard to make a strong comeback after Achilles tendon surgery and once again be part of the world elite.
"In athletics, even a hundredth of a second can make all the difference, so I’m constantly working to optimize every aspect of my training and recovery. Good Habit Co. electrolytes help me stay on top of my hydration and give my body the best chance to perform at its best."
-Ida Karstoft

This year, I really want to…
Run without pain. I haven’t been able to do that since 2018, and I’m more motivated than ever to make it happen. Of course, I’ve got the World Championships in Tokyo on my radar, and I’m pushing hard to qualify and be ready on the start line. But my main goal is to come back stronger after my Achilles tendon surgery.
My typical Sunday looks like...
I wake up without an alarm, make a good cup of coffee, and take my time reading the newspaper. Later, I’ll go for a walk through the streets of Copenhagen and meet up with friends – it’s my way of recharging, both mentally and physically.
The most spontaneous thing I’ve done...
A tandem skydive over Copenhagen – totally unexpected and definitely not on my bucket list. I’m not an adrenaline junkie at all, but I won the opportunity in a DHL relay race lottery, where the race kicked off with a skydiver landing and taking off with the baton. A crazy experience, but one I’ll always remember.
The biggest risk I’ve taken…
Was probably walking away from a promising football career to pursue athletics – without knowing where it might take me. But honestly, it never felt like a risk to me. I was just following what felt right and what I knew would make me happy.
My biggest strength is…
My passion for training and the process itself is what drives me every day. And I can’t deny that I’ve been gifted with powerful sprinting genes.
I know the best place in town if you’re looking for...
Some great baked goods! I’m a big fan of sourdough bread, Copenhagen’s coffee culture, and everything that comes with it – and I do my best to support local cafés and bakeries. Prolog, Kismet, Lipa, and Grums are high on the list.
What’s your “hype myself” song?
I’m the kind of person who can listen to the same song on repeat for hours. On competition days, my go-to hype song is ‘Be Right There’ by Diplo – it hasn’t failed me yet.
